Healthy Communities Coalition manages three food pantries in Lyon County serving nearly 3,600 people each month. Our food pantries are located in the communities we serve – Dayton, Silver Springs, and Yerington. The pantries provide a hub where community members can come together to share conversation, receive referrals to services, and volunteer their time to help neighbors in need. Additionally, Silver Springs food pantry provides home food delivery to clients who are unable to travel to the pantry.

Healthy Communities Coalition works with USDA, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, partner agencies, local businesses, community groups, and community members to keep our pantry shelves stocked. Through generous donations, we are able to provide a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy to those we serve, in addition to dry and canned goods. If you wish to make a monetary donation to support the food pantry, click HERE. Food donations can be dropped off at your local pantry during normal business hours.

We believe that our best asset is our people. In 2018, volunteers contributed over 19,000 hours of service to the food pantries, equivalent to $159,000 of in-kind support. These hours of community service make possible the operation of our food pantries. To learn more about volunteering your time and talents with Healthy Communities coalition, click HERE.

Collaboration with other agencies, such as Lyon County Human Services, Nevada SNAP, and Nevada WIC, and allows us to build linkages to programs and services. We also host victims advocate services, veterans services, and more.

We believe in moving people towards sustainability and creating self-efficacy. The pantry partners with our community garden and encourages pantry clients to participate. There is no charge for pantry clients to participate in the garden, and registration forms can be found in the pantry.
