Dayton Valley Golf Course and Healthy Communities Coalition are once again joining together to hold our third annual Fall Harvest Classic Golf Tournament, “Drive Out Hunger” on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
The continued presence of COVID-19 and the recent increase in gas and food prices have had a profound impact on our community food pantries. For the 2020-2021 program year, Lyon County food pantries served almost 10,000 unique individuals and distributed well over two million pounds of food, at an estimated value of over $4 million.
- Over half of our clients were determined to be children and seniors.
- Need within the community increased 80% from last year.
- The pantry backpack program supplied an average 400 meals per month to Lyon County Schools.
