Patients with new T2D diagnosis feel unsupported to self-manage condition

Many adults who were newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes experienced emotional distress and felt unsupported while transitioning to self-management education, according to a presentation at the 2022 ADCES Foundation/Certified Board for Diabetes Care. Most patients with diabetes felt discomfort about being required to see a diabetes care and education specialist, while others lacked sufficient self-management information.
