Nevada Artists Invited to Submit Proposals Promoting Public Health Messages

$2,000 to each selected artist

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties, in partnership with Immunize Nevada and Nevada Community Health Worker Association, is offering $2,000 in awards to each winning Nevada artist age 18 and older. The goal of this initiative is creation of artworks that promote public health and safety messages about the benefits of vaccinations.

In recognition of the importance of the Silver State’s community of artists, Nevada artists are invited to apply to be chosen to create artworks that are unique, accurate and will serve to increase vaccine awareness. Selected artists will then create artwork such as visual art, comic strips, songs, and other culturally relevant formats that speak to underserved rural and urban communities.

Nevada artists should propose artwork that visibly demonstrates positivity and trust in vaccines. Artwork should include culturally tailored and appropriate messages that emphasize vaccine safety and effectiveness as well as champion access to the vaccines. Artists are encouraged to review resources provided by Immunize Nevada that speak to vaccine safety and efficacy.

$2,000 each will be awarded to thirteen artists, with new winning works announced on a regular basis from 2022 through 2024. These unique and culturally competent artworks will be distributed on social media and through flyers, posters, etc.

Proposals will be accepted in English, Spanish, or other languages spoken by Nevadans and selected works from winning artists will be publicly shared in those languages.
