Learn to play a traditional Andean instrument, the zampoña flute, with Kantu Inka! Older adults have the opportunity to sign up for a free April-May 2022 series to learn to play the Andean pan flute. Additional students will be accepted through the April 26th workshop. Flutes are provided!
Nevada Arts Council Teaching Artists Carlos Ocampo and Julie Lozada Ocampo of “Kantu Inka” offer the classes for adults 55+ to learn a new lifetime art: playing the zampoña (Andean pan flute).
The lessons are held in Silver City (on the Comstock 7 miles north of Dayton or 3 miles south of Virginia City). Participants do not have to live in Silver City to participate. Email quest@hcclsc.org for more information.
This activity is made possible by a grant provided by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies in partnership with E.A. Michelson Philanthropy, and supported in part by the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional support comes from Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties.
