There’s a fantastic service and training opportunity being offered in the Dayton, Nevada area. A VISTA member with a dedication to teamwork is needed to help increase access to food, thereby improving food security and wellness in the community.
As a VISTA service member at the nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties, you’ll build organizational capacity through outreach, volunteer and participant recruiting, and assisting with organizing nutrition and health education events from November 2021 to November 2022.
Duties may include collaboration with farmers, research of best practices for inclusive food systems, coordination and recruitment of volunteers.
The living allowance for VISTA service members for 2021 is $575 every two weeks. When you successfully complete your year of service in the VISTA program, you will be eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award (education award) of $6345 or the end of service cash stipend of $1,800.
As an AmeriCorps member serving in the VISTA program, there are also several benefits available that can help you manage, or even reduce, your federal student loans and potentially lower your overall student debt.
You can find out about these and other service benefits at https://americorps.gov/members-volunteers/vista/benefits
Throughout your service, you’ll receive ongoing training to help make your experience successful.
