Help Your Community, Earn Money for College This Summer in Dayton, NV

The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is pleased to offer summer AmeriCorps service opportunities in the large greenhouse we’re now operating in Dayton as part of our new Rural Health and Nutrition Initiative.

Plans for the building include growing fresh vegetables to help provide a year-round source of fresh food for our neighbors throughout Lyon County, along with plans for future programs.

We are searching for AmeriCorps service applicants who would enjoy serving in the greenhouse, thus earning a stipend of $2,520 for 300 hours of summer service, and an Education Award of $1,342.86 for college or technical/ career school. Seventeen- year -olds (with parent permission) as well as those 18 years old and older are eligible to serve.  The service term would begin as soon as applicants apply, are accepted to the positions and complete their onboarding process. Their term will end Aug. 15, 2021.

AmeriCorps service is a fantastic resume builder and a great opportunity to serve your community in a meaningful way. This opportunity would be particularly well-suited for those who are interested in agriculture, science, and hands-on experience working in a food production facility.
