Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties hosts it’s March meeting on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 9am via Zoom. Please join us for member updates and introductions, plus presentations by guest speakers.

Cynthia Farnes, Peer Recovery Support Specialist with the Foundation for Recovery, will describe the work of the Foundation for Recovery, whose mission is to promote the positive impact of recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders and to enhance the lives of individuals and families affected. The Foundation offers recovery support services, education and training, and advocacy.

Alisha Moss and Jenny Claypool of Healthy Communities will highlight the work of Nevada’s youth to educate their communities and peers about the health effects of vaping and tobacco use. Their presentation will include a new video about vaping that was created by young people in Nevada.

Shaunte Ibarra-Beltrami, Program Supervisor with Community Chest Inc., will describe education and employment programs such as Guidance Through Academics, Mentoring, Employment (G.A.M.E.), a program for young adults, and AdultWorks, a program for adults.
