Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties hosts it’s February meeting on Thursday, February 11 ,2021 at 9am via Zoom. Please join us for member updates and introductions, plus presentations by guest speakers who will discuss important bills in the upcoming legislative session; cannabis use data for Nevada; and services offered by Eddy House, which works with homeless and at-risk youth to develop life and job skills necessary for independence. Kim Sloan, Synar Coordinator with State of Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Agency (SAPTA), will describe Nevada data for cannabis vaping, as well as data from the poison center on cannabis edibles. She previously served as the cannabis epidemiologist for DPBH SAPTA. Before working with the State of Nevada, she worked conducting cannabis research at UNR. She co-authored a publication titled Cannabis Use and Driving Under the Influence.

Yvette Myers, Chief Officer of Programs at Eddy House, will describe the services offered by Eddy House in Reno, which works with homeless and at-risk youth to develop life and job skills necessary for independence. She has more than 15 years’ experience in the social services field. She was previously Chief Program Officer with Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada.

Sarah Adler of Silver State Government Relations will provide an update on bills being heard during the 2021 Nevada Legislative session that are relevant to HCC’s goals for health and wellness.
