Seniors Eating Well is a free online nutrition class for seniors. The series of nine lessons offered through Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties begins on February 2, 2021 and ends on March 2, 2021.

Every person who signs up will be entered into a raffle to win free prizes!

Kate Castro, Healthy Aging Program Coordinator for Healthy Communities Coalition, explained that “Seniors Eating Well is a free online nutrition class where you can chat with old and new friends. All you need to attend is a WiFi enabled device such as a tablet, smartphone, or laptop. I can help people get set up on Zoom as well. If you miss seeing friends and meeting people, and would like to learn more about how to boost good health through meal planning, fitness, and social relationships, this class is for you.”

The classes, which will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-11am starting February 2, are virtual and completely free. Seniors Eating Well is an evidenced-based curriculum developed by Pennsylvania State University.

Lesson topics include: Great Grain Discoveries, All Star Senior Snacks, Hearth Healthy Meals, Cooking and Seasoning with Herbs, Savory Soups, Fitness Fun, Evaluating Dietary Supplements for Seniors, Dietary Fat, and New Concepts in Weight Control.
