Healthy Communities of Lyon and Storey Counties meets Thursday November 12 from 9am-11am via Zoom (connection details below). Attendees and Healthy Communities’ staff will share brief updates on various events, initiatives and programs.

Afterward, Jennifer McClendon, Lauren Wilson and Sarah Jane Smith of the Trauma-Responsive Demonstration Grant Team will lead a focus group.

The purpose of the focus group is to gather input on the Trauma Recovery Demonstration Grant – a federal grant to the State of Nevada to help fund mental health services for school-aged children who have experienced trauma.

As part of the grant, they are also exploring school, community, and mental health provider knowledge and beliefs about trauma and its impacts on children and families.

They will be conducting focus groups all around the state. During the Healthy Communities’ meeting on November 12, they’ll ask questions about trauma and poverty in your own community, and the resources you have to address these concerns.
