Healthy Communities is grateful to the Webstaurant Store in Dayton for their donation of $4,300! Their generous gift will help advance Silver Stage schools lunchroom to the next stage in their innovative Family Dining pilot program. The schools’ next goals include acquiring enough of the types of dishware needed so students can pass serving bowls for a truly family style dining atmosphere. For several years now, they’ve had lovely cloth table coverings, seasonal centerpieces, and teachers joining students at each table to model friendly dinner table conversation. The schools also have organic gardens and hoop houses that contribute to the schools’ fresh produce salad bar, and a nationally recognized student-led campaign to create a zero waste campuses (and they’re almost to this goal)!
