Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey’s June public meeting takes place on Thursday, June 14 at 9am at the Lahontan Room of the Silver Springs Community Center (2945 Ft Churchill St, Silver Springs, NV 89429).

Guest speakers at this month’s breakfast meeting include Rita Greggio and Allison Cladianos who will describe their program, the Northern Nevada Alliance for Health and Justice, a medical legal partnership between Northern Nevada HOPES and Washoe Legal Services. The program is based at HOPES and is available to assist patients of HOPES with civil legal problems.

Urban Lotus Project Executive Director Hannah Bias and board member Lisa Godenick will also offer a presentation. Urban Lotus Project is a nonprofit based in Reno with the mission to empower at-risk and underserved youth and young adults through trauma-informed yoga and meditation practices.

In addition to learning from guest speakers about diverse resources, the monthly Coalition meeting also serves as a way for the local, state, federal and tribal groups and community volunteers who comprise the Coalition to gather and share news. The Coalition offers an efficient way to collaborate strategically on system changes that improve access to affordable, local food and to health care, and that support community-based, sustainable economic development.
