For more than a decade, Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties has hosted monthly breakfast meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 9am. Diverse local, state, federal and tribal groups and community volunteers share news and collaborate on system changes that improve access to affordable, local food and to health care, and that support community-based, sustainable economic development. The meetings also include presentations by guest speakers on a wide variety of topics.
Following are details about guest speakers and their presentations at the Coalition’s May 10th meeting at the Silver Springs Community Center at 2945 Ft Churchill Street, Silver Springs, NV 89429 (left side of senior center in the Lahontan Room).
The Life Change Center‘s Program Manager, Lisa Lee, will describe the Mobile Opioid Recovery Engagement Initative that is coming to the Lyon County area. She’ll also describe other services the non-profit organization, which has been providing recovery services for heroin and prescription medication abuse concerns since 1999, offers today. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
Six student leaders from Yerington High‘s student leadership class and student senate, including Student Body President Darwin Snyder, will give a presentation about their goals and initiatives at YHS.
