Wellness Support Group Meets Jan. 17th

Dayton, Nevada – The community of Dayton offers lots of ways to get and stay healthy and fit. In addition to some beautiful and affordable venues for outdoor exercise such as the Dayton State Park, the Rolling A Open Space and the Disc Golf Course, there are also free monthly healthy cooking and nutrition classes at the community center with dietitian Kim Mason,  and weekly meetings of a wellness support group called the Wellness Warriors.

Wellness Warriors: Since September of 2014, Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC) has been hosting a wellness support group every Wednesday. Participants report that the meetings are fun and full of support, with members sharing nutritious recipes and health and fitness tips. People  who would like to support one another’s goals for wellness are invited to attend.  Classes are open to men and women of all ages.

January 17th Meeting: Each week the group focuses on a different topic. Wellness Warriors group facilitator Lisa Selmi writes, “Happy New Year Wellness Warriors! It’s the beginning of a new year and a chance to start living a healthier lifestyle. Our next gathering is Wednesday, January 17th, 2018 at 5:30pm at our new Healthy Communities’ office at 209 Dayton Valley Road. We will be discussing healthy life style choices and also watching a video series taught by a professor from Baylor University. Let me know if you have any questions, hope to see you there!”
