Yerington, Nevada -The Yerington Food Pantry, located at 124 West Bridge Street in Yerington, is one of three “volunteer-powered” food pantries managed by the nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties. Although it has only been open since May of 2017, it is already serving more than 600 individuals per week. More than 60 percent of the pantry’s guests are elders.
Holiday Hours: The Pantry is open once a week on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., but will be closed on Wednesday, December 27th for the holidays.
Volunteers and Teamwork: Pantry manager Shannon Juntunen has a long list of area groups, businesses and individuals she’d like to thank for support. She adds that she’d also like to thank the two AmeriCorps members serving the pantry, Mary Guthrie and Michelle Eriksen, and “the core team of amazing volunteers that give their time, energy, and effort every week, making it possible to serve our community!”
