Silver Springs, Nevada – The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties invites the public to its monthly breakfast meeting Thursday, December 14 at 9am at the Silver Springs Community Center. The Coalition will be electing new board members this month.
The monthly meetings include discussion and multi-sector, collaborative action planning on issues affecting community vibrancy in the Lyon and Storey regions.
Meetings also include updates from the Coalition’s local, state, tribal and federal group partners, and news about the region’s healthy food hub, health and wellness hub, and community development hub.
Guest Speaker: Karen Pugh, the point of contact for an upcoming University Reno Nevada (UNR) Rural Mobile Outreach Clinic visit to the Lyon County area to offer primary and preventative care, is the featured speaker this month. Pugh is a Silver Springs resident and a PhD student in the Informational Technology in Education program at UNR’s College of Education.
What Is the Coalition? Healthy Communities is composed of dozens of local, state, federal and tribal group partners; hundreds of community volunteers; a board of directors and a small staff, all working together on a common mission to strengthen communities in the Lyon and Storey regions by increasing access to health care; to affordable, locally grown food; and to sustainable community development opportunities that serve the common good and build local assets and self-reliance.
