Healthy Communities Seeks Program Coordinator

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is welcoming resumes from potential candidates for the position of Program Coordinator. A Bachelor’s or Masters degree in a related field, especially behavioral health, is preferred. Significant experience in behavioral health, non-profit, public, or project management will be considered on an individual basis. Ability to: (1) communicate in a professional manner and in front of large groups (2) write professional county, state, federal, and foundation grants; as well as memos, letters, contracts, and budgets (3) read and comprehend complex instructions (4) ability to use a computer and basic programs well (4) implement and explain methodology learned at trainings (5) work with little direction and motivate self and others (6) manage employees (7) lead, nurture and attend to the spirit of collaboration, and the passion for positive community change. Position – Programs Coordinator

Definition: Under direction of the Healthy Communities Coalition Executive Director and Board of Directors the Programs Coordinator will assist with the daily operations of the Healthy Communities Coalition, and other work assigned, in strengthening the Coalition in Lyon and Storey Counties.

Principle Responsibilities: (1) Provide oversight of behavioral health programs, systems and collaboration, engaging partners and community. (2) Assist Executive Director in creating or updating, as necessary, policies and procedures to ensure proper compliance with good non-profit management and county, state, and federal guidelines. (3) Coordinate with Executive Director and staff to ensure all daily business, scopes of work, projects, and evaluation is completed in a timely and efficient manner and in compliance with the Healthy Communities Coalition’s Board and Policies and Procedures. (4) Assist in oversight of grants to ensure accountability with budgets, contracts and proper fiscal procedures. (5) Work with Coalition Board and Executive Director to create, implement, and update coalition sustainability plan that addresses membership, fiscal needs, staff, and support. This plan would include but not limited to grant writing, membership recruitment, garnishing and investigating new avenues for funds, networking etc.(6) Under Coalition Board’s guidance, create, update, and implement, the community grant making process including but not limited to RFA process, selection process, contract process, monitoring process, and evaluation process. (7) Work with Executive Director and board to ensure coalition’s mission and vision are amply nourished and passion for the work is sustained.

Examples of Tasks: The tasks listed below are examples of work typically performed by employees in this position. An employee may not be assigned all duties listed and may be assigned duties not listed below.

 Support and advise Executive Director in decision making and evaluate paid and volunteer staff on the resolution of problems, assist with employee problems, concerns and complaints.

 Maintain effective operation of projects, activities and events in coordination with other staff.

 Build bridges of communication between communities, agencies and other coalitions.

 Grant writing and management.

 Build the coalition’s capacity to access resources

 Ensure all state and federal reporting requirements are fulfilled.

 Attend trainings on non-profit management, grant writing, change processes, researched based

processes, evaluation processes and prevention methodologies and frameworks.

 Ensure training opportunities, discussions, meetings, etc. for staff, coalition members & board

 Assist Executive Director and Board Members to nurture the coalition work and community involvement, for board,coalition, task force, and staff members.

Knowledge and Abilities: A Bachelor’s or Masters degree in a related field preferred. Significant experience in behavioral health, non-profit, public, or project management will be considered on an individual basis. Ability to: (1) communicate in a professional manner and in front of large groups (2) write professional county, state, federal, and foundation grants; as well as memos, letters, contracts, and budgets (3) read and comprehend complex instructions (4) ability to use a computer and basic programs well (4) implement and explain methodology learned at trainings (5) work with little direction and motivate self and others (6) manage employees. Compensation: $15-$24 an hour depending on experience and funding available. Position is Grant funded and is not guaranteed.
