Fernley, Nevada – The Fernley Chamber of Commerce’s August 15th morning meeting will include two guest speakers.
Heather Benson of Lyon County Human Services Department will describe the Lyon Employment Program serving the region, and also the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Program, which offers financial incentives for employers who hire disabled Veterans, youths, recipients of Social Security, etc.
Sarah Braswell of the Comstock Youth Works in Fernley will describe another opportunity for area employers. Through Healthy Communities Coalition’s Comstock Youth Works (CYW) program, about 50 teens learn on the job and work hard for employers in the Fernley, Dayton, Yerington, and Silver Springs regions who give them a chance as summer interns. CYW covers the interns’ hourly wage, workers comp, and liability insurance.
