Free Cooking Class Monday April 17th

Dayton, Nevada– The public is warmly invited to join dietitian Kim Mason for a healthy cooking demonstration, followed by dinner, on Monday April 17th, 2017 at 5:30pm at the Dayton Valley Community Center at 170 Pike Street. The class is completely free, no need to register, and everyone is welcome.

Menu: The cooking classes are currently focusing on the “Mediterranean Way of Eating.” Participants will learn how to prepare tuna patties with cilantro, basil, mint and feta, and Asian noodles with broccoli and peanut sauce. Kim will describe the beneficial fatty acid Omega-3 and the nutritional values of fish.

On the third Monday of each month, Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties hosts a free cooking demo and dinner featuring healthy menu possibilities that incorporate varying foods that USDA Commodities typically offers. For instance, this month’s recipes include USDA Commodities’ peanut butter and canned tuna. Cooking begins at 5:30pm and participants will sit down together to eat at around 6:15pm.
