Community Roots Opens March 20th

Dayton, Nevada –  Community Roots is celebrating its 10th year in operation! It opens for the 2017 season on March 20th. Community Roots is located in Dayton at 60 Second (2nd) Avenue and Highway 50 (next to the Pizza Factory). For more information, call Jenny at HCC at 720-2252. Follow Community Roots on Facebook to find out about special sale events and deliveries of roses, trees, shrubs and more.

Community Roots, a self-sustaining nonprofit, is Healthy Communities Coalition’s lovely garden center offering a large variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetables and vibrant annuals as well as soil amendments and pest management solutions. They take great pride in providing varieties that thrive in our challenging conditions, as well as ornamentals and specialty items.

And Community Roots is so much more than a nursery. They’re inspired by their community, its youth, and the potential to make  positive change. With support from the community, Community Roots is able to provide some of the technical support, seeds, materials, tools and training needed for more than 10 school gardens in Lyon County. They’re also able to hire local youth and adults, and provide on-the- job training. During the summer, local youths get experience running a farmers market featuring local produce, honey, eggs, and jams and baked treats made by local Cottage Food businesses. Community Roots farmers market accepts SNAP, WIC, and USDA Senior Coupons in addition to cash, checks, etc.

With your help, Community Roots continues to be an important part of the community, focused on healthy lifestyles and gardening education. Thank you for your support!
