Question 2 on the Nevada Ballot: The presentation is particularly timely because the Nevada Marijuana Legalization Initiative is on the November 8, 2016 ballot in Nevada as an indirect initiated state statute. The measure, upon voter approval, would legalize the use and possession of a limited amount of marijuana for recreational use for people who are at least 21 years old. Giving or selling to minors, driving under the influence of marijuana, and marijuana use in public, would all remain prohibited. Marijuana businesses would not be able to operate near schools, churches, child care centers, or other community buildings. The initiative would tax marijuana sales and allocate revenue from such tax to support K-12 education. This measure will be on the ballot as Question 2.
Kevin Sabet, PhD and CEO of Smart Approaches to Marijuana, or S.A.M., will discuss impacts of recreational marijuana legalization observed in other states that have passed laws allowing for recreational marijuana use by adults.
