Lyon and Storey Communities– Healthy Communities Coalition Volunteer Coordinator, Freida Carbery, and others from throughout Northern Nevada, will be honored at the “Human Services Network’s” annual awards ceremony in Reno on January 14. Healthy Communities has cancelled its January meeting because it falls on the same date, and Coalition partners, staff, and board plan to attend.

Freida was nominated, in part, for her work with Healthy Communities in helping to recruit and organize more than 1,600 volunteers for 3 Remote Area Medical clinics in Yerington, Vegas and Carson in October that brought over $656,000 worth of dental, medical and vision services at no cost to a total of 2,111 Nevada patients from dozens of communities.
Other winners of Human Services Network awards this year include: Ray Hagar, Media Representative of the Year; Judge Scott Pearson of the Reno Justice Court, Politician of the Year; Mike Faultich of Ridge House, Board Member of the Year; Frieda Carberry, Healthy Communities Coalition, Staff Member of the Year; Anne Schiller of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, Administrator of the Year; ACTIONN, Agency of the Year; and Connie McMullen, receiving the Michael O’Callaghan Humanitarian Award.
