Dayton, Nevada – Healthy Communities Coalition hosts a weight loss support group which meets every Wednesday at the Dayton Valley Community Center at 170 Pike Street. Participants report that the meetings are fun and full of support, with members sharing nutritious recipes and health and fitness tips.
Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey’s certified Community Health Advocates are in attendance, and are able to offer insights about diabetes self-management, tobacco cessation, and more.
Meetings begin at 5:30 each Wednesday. There is an option, for $5 per class, to also attend a Zumba Gold class after every other meeting. Zumba Gold is a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original dance exercise moves at a lower-intensity.
The Weight Loss group meetings are free, although members are asked for a once a month donation of $5 to the Dayton Preservation Committee for use of the historic building.
The purpose of the group is supporting area residents who would like to support each other in safe, healthy ways to lose excess weight and increase wellness. Classes are open to men and women of all ages.
The next Zumba Gold class will be on Wednesday, January 14th at 6 pm in the gym area of the Community Center.
