Learn how to make Salmon Albondiga at the Dayton Community Center

Dayton, Nevada -There will be another free cooking demonstration at the Dayton Community Center on Monday, January 19th at 5:30pm. This month, Alaska Salmon Albondiga (meatball soup) is on the menu. Freida Carbery of Healthy Communities Coalition says, “Mark your calendar now and come hungry!”

Participants will learn how to prepare the hearty soup beginning at 5:30pm, and then enjoy a meal together at 6:15pm.
The class is open to anyone who would like to learn to cook nutritious meals using affordable and local ingredients that result in tasty dishes. The Coalition sponsors FREE cooking classes for the community once a month.

Instructors are Rebekah May, certified Community Health Advocate with Healthy Communities (as well as a farmer!), and dietitian Kim Mason.

During past cooking classes, participants learned to prepare chicken pot pie, lima bean soup, salmon patties, broccoli kale bacon slaw, pumpkin corn muffins, pork and beans, lamb, and a high-nutrient grain called quinoa.

The classes are part of the Coalition’s “healthy food hub”, a regional effort to improve access to and demand for locally and sustainably grown, healthy, and affordable food.
