Dayton, Nevada -Healthy Communities Coalition sponsors a series of FREE cooking classes for the community. The next class is on Monday, November 16th (2014) at The Dayton Community Center at 170 Pike Street.
Participants will learn how to prepare lima bean soup. Cooking begins at 5:30pm, and participants will enjoy a meal together at 6:15pm.
The class is open to anyone who would like to learn to cook nutritious meals using affordable and local ingredients that result in tasty dishes.
Cooking instructors are Rebekah May of Sunny Day Organic Farms and dietician Kim Mason.
During past cooking classes, participants learned to prepare salmon patties, broccoli kale bacon slaw, pumpkin corn muffins, pork and beans, lamb, and a high-nutrient grain called quinoa.
The classes are part of Healthy Communities Coalition’s “healthy food hub”, a regional effort to improve access to and demand for local, healthy, and affordable foods.
