Help Us Celebrate the New Arts and Culture Inventory of the Comstock Region on Thursday Sept. 25

Virginia City, Nevada – On Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 6pm, the public is cordially invited to the “unveiling” of a Cultural Resource Inventory of the Comstock  (Silver City, Gold Hill, Virginia City and Dayton).

The Inventory is a project funded by the Nevada Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts, and carried out by volunteers from the four communities of the Comstock.

It is a starting point for developing a regional directory of artists, musicians, actors, writers, artisans, photographers, etc., as well as of performance and exhibition venues.

During the “unveiling” art mixer, the scope and purpose of the Resource Inventory, where it can be found online, and how to list more resources, will all be explained.

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey was awarded a Nevada Circuit Rider consultancy grant from Nevada Arts Council for technical assistance in creating the Inventory.

Christy McGill, executive director of Healthy Communities, explained, “The unveiling party will also include a great chance to connect with other creative souls and arts advocates of the Comstock. You’re also likely to find additional possibilities for strategic partnerships for displaying and performing your own work or for bringing even more cultural resources to the region. Please bring your business cards.”

Appetizers will be provided by Healthy Communities, a regional community nonprofit.

St. Mary’s Art Center is generously providing the venue for the event. The Center supports the region’s emerging to established artists through exhibitions, classes, and residencies, and connects the international arts community with Nevada’s vibrant arts community and cultural achievements.

Please RSVP to Quest Lakes at (775) 287-7598 if you’d like to attend.
